The Ultimate Hack
In a world with “hacks” for everything– weight loss, energy, mindset, stress relief, perfect skin; you name it… I’ve got one that is so simple, yet so effective. It’s an ancient, time-tested method that has proven to have results EVERY single time… for all of the above!
Intrigued yet??
It’s simple. It’s easy. It just requires some intentional thought and time.
What is my “ultimate hack?” you say.... (drumroll please)....
HYDRATION!
Believe it or not, this very simple trick is the easiest way to improve all aspects of your health. Headaches? Drink water. Want perfect hydrated skin? Drink water. Want to lose weight? Drink water. It doesn’t matter what your goals are, drink water.
Admittedly, getting enough water is extremely hard for me some days. If I have a super busy morning, it could be 9:00 am before I have my first sip. (Alarming, I know). Because I don’t usually crave water, I have to constantly remind myself to DRINK! So, either I’m totally on top of it or I’m stuck trying to get all of my ounces in before bed time, which poses other problems.
If you haven’t gotten a copy of our Hydration Schedule and you need some motivation to really achieve your water goals for each day, look no further. Here’s how it works:
Drink your first glass of water (16 oz) at 7 am (or before if you wake up early)
Set an alarm on your phone for every 2 hours and chug another glass of water. You can drink it more continuously of course, but this is where people lose track. So if you haven’t finished your 16 oz every couple hours… then chug!
By continuing this pattern throughout the day, you will finish your water intake for the day by 5 pm.
The earlier you start, the earlier you will finish (and won’t be kept up all night going to the bathroom!)
What do you think? Does this sound hard? The rule of thumb is that you should shoot for at least half of your body weight in ounces of water a day. So if you’re 150 pounds, you should be drinking 75 oz of water. If your pregnant or breastfeeding (or live in DRY Colorado), add an extra 10-20 oz. AND if you’re sick of the plain flavor of water, try adding some electrolytes to the mix. Its extra hydrating and gives you a break from the plain flavor.
Let me know how you do with drinking water! Again, this simple task can improve every aspect of health, so why not give it a little bit more attention. Let me know how it goes!
