Megan was first licensed as an acupuncturist by the state of California in 2009 following completion of her Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine degree from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA.  In 2018, she completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with a specialization in Women’s Health and Pain Management from Five Branches University in San Jose, CA. Her doctoral capstone was a case study using acupuncture and Chinese herbs for hormone regulation in menopausal women with abnormal uterine bleeding.  In 2019, she became a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.

She had the lifelong goal to go to medical school and started at University of Maryland College Park as a pre-med student.  She had been receiving acupuncture treatments since age 16 for her own health issues. The results were quick and significant for an autoimmune condition that hadn’t been able to be resolved by allopathic or naturopathic treatment.  This experience allowed her to start asking bigger questions: “What does being a healer really look like?”

Acupuncture school was calling her!  Initially, she attended Bastyr University in Seattle, WA.  After braving the northwest winter for a year, sunnier weather was much needed.  She found Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, CA. Being raised as a true east coaster, she was surprised to find herself living in California.  However, Five Branches University allowed her to receive specialized training in many areas of Chinese medicine, along with a foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She complemented her studies with training in Medical Qigong and Five Elements acupuncture.  She has received training in Master Nagano/Kiiko Mastsumoto Japanese style acupuncture, Dr. Richard Tan balancing method and classical herbal training.

Following completion of her Masters degree, she started working for Kan Herb Company.  She grew quickly with this rare opportunity. She worked with thousands of pounds of Chinese herbs daily.  She learned quality control procedures and provided consultation to practitioners nationwide. Megan traveled the nation representing the company, providing education and working directly with eastern and western practitioners on the safe and effective use of Chinese herbs.  Concurrently, she opened a community acupuncture practice in Santa Cruz that started thriving right away!

Since that time, Megan has obtained extensive post-graduate training in the women’s health field and pain management. She enjoys working with patients to create realistic health goals to help them discover a renewed relationship with life. Her daughter arrived in 2015.  Megan moved to the Denver area in 2017. She enjoys yoga, the mountains and all the outdoors has to offer.
