Tibetan Herbal Footsoaks

Feet Soaking In Herbal Footsoak

Tibetan herbal footsoaks are utilized in holistic medicine for many health conditions, including poor circulation, menstrual cramps, PMS symptoms, trauma recovery, aches and pains, sciatica, arthritic conditions, neck and lower back pain, menopause, natural aging, and headaches to name a few.

A rich tea is prepared in very hot water in which you soak your feet for an average of 30 minutes(give or take, depending on your condition). Our goal is to get the herbs to penetrate, clear, warm, and strengthen the energetic channels of the body.

Traditional Chinese Medicine categorizes imbalances as Qi, the Yang, or Blood, the Yin. Acupuncture excels at balancing the imbalances of Qi. For problems associated with the Blood, acupuncture can be a bit slow. This is because blood is a physical substance. Herbal treatments, internal or topical, are used to help build or move the Blood. Moxa, or mugwort, is a great example of a topical herbal treatment that is burned and then used on the channels and acupuncture points to warm and stimulate blood flow to a specific area. The volatile oils in the herbs are activated and released by soaking them in the hot water to stimulate a healing response in the body.

Problems due to blood stagnation can be quite stubborn. The blood can congeal easily due to sedentary lifestyle, trauma, or injury and poor lifestyle. Problems often show up as cold, stuck, and painful. Unlike ionic foot baths which are used to detoxify and cleanse, the focus of the Tibetan Herbal Footsoak is to warm, calm, promote, and build the blood.

Often herbal treatment, whether internal or topical, will lead to an enhanced effect from your acupuncture sessions. Please ask your acupuncturist for more information!
